With spring coming soon, this time of year is common for some women to get serious about planning breast enhancement procedures due to the upcoming warmer weather. Making the decision to have any procedure is one that should be made with lots of consideration, and breast augmentation is no different.
The goal of breast augmentation is to increase breast size, most typically using an implant, either saline or silicone. Alternatively, an option that has recently been increasing in popularity is transferring a patient’s own fat to add volume to the breast.
Because the decision to alter the size and shape of your breasts is a very personal choice, Dr. Welch works closely with her patients to help them achieve symmetry and balance while maintaining femininity. During your consultation, you will discuss the look you are hoping to achieve, and you will have an exam including measurements that help determine your implant placement and your best implant choices.
For those considering procedures, timing is an important factor, with many patients wanting to have the procedure complete before a vacation, wedding or other important event. Recovery can vary depending on implant placement – those with less breast tissue typically have best results with implants being placed under their pectoral muscle – so they may have delayed soreness and limited range of motion. Most patients feel just about back to normal after 4-5 days or even sooner, but your activities will need to be limited for several weeks after your procedure.
